Outreach is of high value to the Florence Church.  A mission organization is identified each month to receive all mission offerings.

2018 Missions include:

January Mission

CAMO was launched in 1993 by Kathy Tschiegg a former Peace Corps nurse who saw too many Honduran infants and children die due to a lack of medical equipment and technology. Today, CAMO is one of the most recognized non-profit health care organizations in the region. It serves around 100,000 people annually with services ranging from breast exams and prosthetics to neo-natal care and eye surgery.

Caring Community

Caring Community is a local outreach program serving individuals and families in Wakeman Village and surrounding townships (including Florence Twp) that need emergency assistance. We are comprised of Wakeman Congregational Church, Wakeman St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and Clarksfield United Methodist Church. We provide supplemental food assistance, funding support for those facing utility shutoff notices or evictions, and preventative healthcare.

Our food pantry is located at St. Mary’s. It is supplied by buying food from Second Harvest. The Scouts also supply us with their yearly collection of food. There are several donations of food from other sources throughout the year. There is a monthly donation program collected by our churches. We are a 501 c(3) organization. Donations are tax exempt. We are operated by volunteers.

March Mission

Second Harvest
Food Bank

Harvest for Hunger is an annual community-wide campaign that helps raise food and funds to help stock food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters throughout our region which includes Crawford, Erie, Huron and Lorain counties.

Help us reach our 2018 Goal to provide over
1 million meals!

April Mission

Youth Camp Scholarship Fund

Every summer, our church provides the opportunity, through the camp scholarship fund, for our youth to attend a week at Camp Patmos.  Each camper, who regularly attends church, is given at least a partial scholarship thanks to the generous gifts of the congregation during the month of April.

Camp Patmos is a member of the Christian Camp and Conference Association. All programs guide campers to a deeper understanding of faith in Jesus Christ and its relevance to their lives. Schedules and activities facilitate the development of relationships between counselors and campers which provides effective ministry to our youth. You can also help this camp keep the costs down, by donating directly to the camp.  Donations can be made on their website or mail your gifts to Camp Patmos c/o Linda Adams, 3410 Mogdore Rd., Mogadore, OH  44260

October Mission

Belize Mission Trip Support

Every year members of our church are part of a mission trip to Belize. Donations to this mission have helped bring water, sanitation, sidewalks, a fresh coat of paint, and lots of love to the children in Belize.

December Mission

Local Family in Need

Prior to the Christmas holiday, we reach out to help a local family have a Christmas dinner and gifts, which they otherwise would not be able to afford.
